You can become a gold member by clicking the link at the top of the page and paying by credit card, or by asking a friend to pay by credit card for you(you pay them back, of course). Optionally, you can mail Money Orders in U.S. Dollars (obtainable from major banks worldwide) to:

Chess Net does not accept Money Orders in any currency except U.S. Dollars.Note that your account will not be activated until your mail payment is received. For this reason, credit cards are the preferred method of payment.

Make sure you have a handle before paying. If you don't have a handle, then log on to Chess Net as a Guest and ask for help by typing "/assist help"
The current Gold Member fees are as follows:
    * Regular Adult membership - $30 per year
    * Second Adult membership on Family Account - $20 per year,...
      (provided that One Regular Adult membership has been paid)
    * Child (<18 yrs old) membership on Family Account- $10 per year,...
      (provided that Two Family Adult memberships have been paid, and a copy of Child's ID is submitted)
    * Student membership - $15 per year, provided acopy of ID or report card is submitted
    * Senior membership - $15 per year, provided acopy of ID or other proof of age>=55 is submitted
    * Monthly membership - $3.95 per month

Copies of ID's for Student, Senior, Child & Family memberships can be mailed to the P O Box listed above. Alternatively, you can log on to Chess.net and ask for an administrator to obtain an email address where you can send a scanned copy of your ID.

To order a Gold Membership by credit card clickhere and use the secure creditcard payment method. Note that the credit card site onlyaccepts payments of $30. So, if you are a student or senior member, your account will be credited for 2 years once your proof of age or student status is received and accepted.
