Favourite Opening - White

If you started as White, what would be your favourite opening? And why?

I always play 1. e4 which means, i don't choosed the openning... black does. I can play against the: Caro-Cann, French, Pirc, Sicilian, Scandinavian, etc, etc... I prefer to play against the Sicilian it's less boring.

Mostly stick with either 1.e4 or 1.c4 if Opponent plays 1.e4 c5 my favorite
way of meeting it is the Sozin Attack also like playing the closed system
against the Sicilian 1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.g3 g6 4.Bg2 Bg7 5.d3 d6
If I'm playing the Sicilian Defence and if I'm black I like the Najdorf
system.

Open Game? 1.e4 e5 then I play Kings Gambit mostly play the Bishop Line 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Bc4 lots of action tactics I'm a very agressive player so this kind of opening suits me lots of sacs brutality :)

I play the Bishops Opening:

1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 if my Opponent plays Nf6 here my favorite reply
is 3.Qe2 Black has to think here what his plan will be play
many interesting games with this line.

Evans Gambit

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4.b4

Can be very sharp game if Black accepts.

As White I like playing the Exchange line of the Ruy Lopez
which is my favorite

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Bxc6

I like this line because it gives white a nice edge in the endgame
with correct play.

If I switch 1.d4 and he plays Nf6 my favorite Opening is the
Trompowsky.

I like the evan's gambit in lightning games. Often my opponent won't know it - and sine it gives a strong attack right away, the black player will lose a lot of time thinking of the right defence.

1.e4

on 1... e5 then 2. Nc3 , then 3.g3 and 4.Bg2 , or somtimes 3.f4 vs weak guys or in lightning

on 1... d5 -> 2. exd
on 1... c5 -> 2.c3 or 2.Nc3

My favourite has always been the Scotch Game. Nothing like a good old fashioned violent central thrash!

I once found a small little book about the so called Colle Opening.
The opening starts with 1.d4 and tries to force a later e4 using Knights and the white bishop. Its easy to learn without many variants and gives you an even game after the opening.

My favorite opening is something rather conditional for white, though oddly I've seemed to pull it off quite a few times recently.

IT's basically something like this
1. e4 d5 (anything that's not e5, really)
2. e5 e6
3. d4 ...
4. Nf3/c3
5. Nf3/c3 those two are conditional)

It's something I came up with, though it probably has another title that I'm not aware of...it's been so long since I actively studied openings... The main idea is to get pawns on e6, d4, and c3, with a knight on f3 for added protection when necessary. It's very constricting for black if they play into it, and can lead to a very tough (to break) defensive position for white if desired.

I always go with d4 as my first move, so I guess Queen's Gambit. I win more with black though.

2.e3 Kf6
3.f4 e6
4.Bd3...

I always play e4! Sometimes 1.a3? when I'm joking (but I won every tournament game with this move).
I play 1.e4 because my first chess teachers told me that this is the best move for young players and that I should go for 1.d4 when I gather some experience. I guess I'm still gathering experience! - even after 20 years.

There is only one real choice

Those in the know always advocate 1.d4 because if its positional nature often sighting the fact that titled players use it all the time.
I am not a titled player and probably will not face one over the board so I play the same way at blitz, internet and postal chess (which is my favorite).....1.e4! is the only way to go....going for the god of all openings...The King's gambit!

I play e4! too. I love playing the french as whites, and on 1... e5 I play 2. Nc3 (the vienna), if opponent plays 2... Nc6 you can then enter an improved kings gambit with f4 where you have one more piece out (and so much more possibilities later)

Against the scicilian I can play many things but my current favorite is probably playing systems with f3 then c4 instead of Nc3, to have better control of the key square d5. 2. c3 is interesting too against the scicilian.

I play scandinavian often in blitz, so I have a good idea out to play it with whites too.

I began with 1. e4 few years ago, then I became a 1.d4 player, but now I play mostly 1.Nf3. This move looks best for me, because gives ability to player to decide what kind of pawn structure to choose. However, about openings and especially for white after 1.e4 I can offer you free analysis made by IM Kalin Karakehajov. You can find them here - http://online-chess.eu. I think it will help you to improve your opening theory with some novelties.
