IAM FACING PROBLEM WHILE LOGGING IN AS GUEST. THE FOLLOWING MASSAGE APPEARS.

CONNECTION TIMED OUT IN ASYNC

WOULD ANY ONE LIKE TO HELP TP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM

could be your firewall blocking cnfw. Are you using chess.net for windows? try to un block it. First start cnfw and try to log in and then look in your firewall program under applications it may be you have to unblock it. gl p.s sometimes windows security can block it also.

i am using chess net for windows. i deleted the fire wall. even then it did not work. what is gl. p.s. it is not installed in my computer.

If you are trying to log in as guest you may be blocked by the guest limit. Once a certain number of guests are logged on, the server won't let any other guests in.

That being said, it does sound like your connection is being blocked. You can try sending a ping to chess.net, and if that goes through, try connecting with telnet.

To send a ping:
click start, run, and type in "command" (without quotes), and click OK
type "ping chess.net", again without quotes, and press enter. If you see some statistics about packets, time, bytes, etc., your ping got through.

To check telnet:
click start, run, and type in "command" (without quotes), and click OK
type "telnet chess.net 5000" (no quotes) and press enter. If you get the text-login, you can connect. If you don't, try "telnet chess.net 23". If neither of those work, your connection is being blocked.

I CHECKED TELNET CHESSNET 5000. THE MESSAGE APPEARED
COULDNOT OPEN ACONNECTION TO CHESS NET

SAME IS WITH TELNET CHESS NET 23

NOW IAM PUZZLED WHAT TO DO.

If you cannot send a ping, your connection is definately blocked. Are you behind a firewall, or on a corporate network? If so, you should ask your network administrator to have a look at it.

I am facing same problem here,

I have test ping and it's working, but i am not able to "telnet chess.net 5000", while i am login using "telnet chess.net 23"

As per me my isp might be blocking 5000 port.

Please help me to resolve this problem

You can check your firewall and see if it blocks connection to chess.net, so you would need to add chess.net to the 'exception' list, not to be blocked.

Anyway as you can see, I'm not expert in this problem, but:

I will tell about this problem to some guides / admins and hopefully they will know the solution and post answer here soon.

Open the registry editor (type regedit at run...), do a search on "chess.net" and delete anything with "chess.net" in it.

Then uninstall "chess.exe" first and then reinstall.
