6. Room messages
In order that the public rooms do not get cluttered up Chess.net provides a number of rooms where specific topics may be discussed.
A. To list all different rooms type /ListChannel
B. To listen to a room type /Listen <Room>
To send a message to a room (You are listening to) type /fsay Bishop Hello All
C. To stop listening to a room type /mute <Room>
Please note that in the case of controversial subjects such as religion or politics the admin staff will insist on them being discussed in the rooms set aside for them so as not to disturb our members who don't want to have their screens cluttered up with discussions they are uninterested in.
7. Swear Filters (Safety Features)
This feature allows the server to filter tells from other users that contain profanity.
There are basically 4 levels of filtering:
Level 0 - This has no filtering. You will receive all tells sent to you.
Level 1 - This is the default setting, and in this level, swear words will appear to you in a scrambled form.
Level 2 - Tells containing profanity will not be received by you.
Level 3 - Tells containing profanity will not come to you. The Chess.net administrators will be notified that the user sent you a tell containing profanity.
To set your filter preference, type /set swear <Number>
8. Playing Games
There are several ways to play a game on chess.net
A. The first way to play a game would be the "Seek" command. The seek command is used to send a match a match request to all users open.
Usage: Seek rated/unrated Example: /Seek 3 0 rated
B. The second way is the "Match" command. The match command is used to send a particular challenge to a specific player, if he/she is open for challenges.
Usage: Match rated/unrated Example: /Match KAIBA 3 0 unrated
C. The last way is to use the "Pending" command to see all challenges you set out, and challenges that came in to you.
Usage: Pending Example: /Pending
To accept or decline a match offer type /accept <#> to accept OR /Decline <#> to decline
All challenges will have a number, they will be located to the farthest left of each challenge
Example: /Accept 10 (Accepting a challenge with the challenge number 10)
Example: /Decline 10 (Declining a challenge with the challenge number 10)
To set yourself so that NOBODY can challenge you to any games use the "Open" command.
To set yourself back open so that you can receive challenges use the "Open" command, again.
Example: /Open (You are now open to receive match request)
Example: /Open (You are now closed and wont receive match request
Please Note: Challenges are set to rated unless otherwise set. Eg. If I wanted to seek a 3 0 rated match, I would type /seek 3 0 r.
You should then see the following:
Issuing: Aussie (1504) rated blitz 3 0.
(Sent to 50 online players)
To play a "unrated" game of chess add unrated into your seek or match.
Example: /seek 3 0 unrated
Example: /ma _Z_ 3 0 unrated
